‘Lawyers for Human Rights (LHR)’ is an Ethiopian civil society organization registered by the FDRE Civil Societies Organizations Agency in accordance with Proclamation No. 1113/2019. The idea of establishing LHR by like-minded lawyers who are passionate about better protection of human rights in Ethiopia was initiated and inspired by the achievements of the Ameha Mekonnen & Associates Law Office (AMALO) in advocating human rights. The LHR aspires to achieve this through empowering lawyers and human rights with knowledge and skills, increasing their role in the promotion and protection of human rights, supporting vulnerable groups and remedying human rights violations through strategic litigation. Its members, who are practicing lawyers in any part of the Country and willing to commit themselves to the cause.’
